About the WCKA
In 1986, Clifton Brown introduced his own unique style of karate to Wales when he formed the Welsh Contact Karate Association.
Master Brown was already a Senior Instructor with the English Contact Karate Association when he returned to Wales and was a rounded martial artist having also studied lau gar kung fu and shotokan karate.
Master Brown initially started with clubs in Caerphilly, Barry, Swansea, Cardiff and Newport. Over a period of time, the students became black belts and many, like Mr Huxtable, now run their own clubs in the areas where they live. There are currently 19 clubs within the WCKA across South Wales.
Master Brown is currently a 6th Degree Black Belt, and has been British, European and World Champion during his karate and kickboxing fighting career.
On October 1st 2005, Master Brown stepped down as Chief Instructor but continues to be involved with the Association. SInce that date Master Nick Clarke, 4th Degree black belt, has been Chief Instructor. Mr Clarke, an outstanding fighter, has trained under Mr Brown since 1988.
Master Clarke has won many British, European and International titles and has been runner up in the WKA World karate and Kickboxing Championships.
