What you need to know about the club
Firstly and most importantly the club is run by qualified coaches with appropriate indemnity insurance, who are first aid trained and qualified with enhanced CRB checks. It is a safe environment for you or your child to train in.
As part of the WCKA, an organisation of 19 clubs across South Wales, there is a strong support network between the various instructors.
Our style of martial arts covers aspects of karate and kickboxing, and anyone aged 4 to 70+ can join and take part in our classes.
The club combines all aspects of martial arts training. Self defence, pad work, drills, basic techniques, sports karate and kickboxing.
Younger children (age 4 to 6) are catered for in our Lil' dragons programme that not only is an introduction to martial arts but also teaches the young students life and safety skills within a tried and trusted method.
Children in years 3,4, 5 and 6 (age 7 to 11) are usually placed onto our Kidszone syllabus. This takes the student to green belt over a time period that is 6 months longer than the main syllabus. Kidszone has fewer moves per grade and is less demanding than the main syllabus.
For those in year 7 and above students will be placed onto the main syllabus of 15 grades. This means it will take about 4 years to reach black belt. It is important to remember it is not a race to get a black piece of cloth around your waste. What is important is that you are able to use what you are taught in a real life situation.
As for adults - we have a thriving adult section and I am hoping to increase this further over the next twelve months.
