David Huxtable - Head Instructor, 2nd Degree Back Belt, Qualified WKGB Level 2 Coach.

Mr Huxtable has been studying karate and kick boxing for over 10 years, initially a traditional style, wado ryu, then with the WCKA under Dave Wing in Fleur De Lys, and more recently under Daniel Parker at Penlan.  Mr Huxtable was 2007  ECKA National Champion for points fighting in the executive category (over 35) and defended his title successfully in July 2008.   David enjoys the sports karate but his passion is coaching and teaching self defence.  He was honoured to have been chosen to fight for Wales in the 2007 WKA World Championships in Karlsruhe Germany, 2008 in Florida and 2009 in Huelva Spain where he took a bronze medal in the traditional karate kumite.  In only his 3rd year of running the club he has coached 6 students to international level, all of them representing Wales at the World Championships in 2009.

As well as being a fully qualifed WKGB coach, Mr Huxtable is qualified in first aid, has a clean enhanced CRB check and has undertaken child protection training in line with both WCKA and WKGB guidelines. He was honoured to be nominated and shortlisted for Sports Coach of the Year for Swansea in 2009.

 

Amy Huxtable - Club Instructor - 1st Degree Black Belt - Qualified WKGB Level 2 Coach

Amy has been practising karate and kickboxing since 2004.  She has become an excellent fighter and superb technician of our style, and her level of performance is one that all students should aspire to.  Amy is already an excellent coach and was awarded her 1st degree black belt in November 2008.  Amy qualified as a Welsh Karate Governing Body Coach in 2008 and represented Wales in the World Karate and Kickboxing Championships in Spain in October 2009, taking a bronze medal in traditional karate kumite.  She was also The WCKA Interclub Grand Champion Ladies Advanced Category for 2009.

 

Daniel Huxtable - Club Leader - 1st Degree Black Belt

Daniel has been studying karate and kickboxing since early 2004 and has proved to be a dedicated student.  He has won many trophies and medals for his expolits in sports karate.  These include a silver medal at the World Championships in Florida in 2008, Bronze in 2009 in Spain, 1st place in points fighting in the WAKO Welsh Open,  1st Place in the National Championships in 2008, 2nd in the WKA Welsh Open and 3rd in the Welsh Ring of Champions.  Daniel was WCKA Grand Champion in both points and continuous fighting in 2008.   In continuous fighting, he has achieved 3rd place in both the WKA and WAKO Welsh Opens.  In 2009 Daniel won the Grand Championship for Musical Forms . 

Daniel was awarded his 1st degree black belt in November 2008.  Like his father, Daniel also represented Wales in the WKA World Championships in Germany in 2007, and Florida in 2008 and Spain in 2009.
